Good gravy – now this is the type of news day you like having when you’re running for office. Today, two things are being reported that will be a gigantic spring in Texas Republican Governor Rick Perry’s step. First – he reported raising $4.2 million in just 9 days – to leave him with $9.3 million cash on hand. There are 216 hours in 9 days – so that brings his hourly haul to $19,444.44 – more or less. That’s an impressive haul (yes – we’re all aware that he wasn’t raising it per hour – thank you). Second, a new poll is being released today that shows Governor Perry leading Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison by 12 pts in a Republican primary matchup – 38% – 26%, though still 34% are undecided.
The poll has some other interesting tid bits about the Democrat primary race for Governor with Kinky Friedman leading the field with 12% of the vote. A few more undecideds in that contest.
