No strings attached

Everybody wants their politicians to come with no strings attached right?

Republicans Continue to Win

And it’s not even November.  Republicans picked up two Democrat held seats in the Oklahoma state house and ALSO in the Tennessee state house.  A good night to be a Republican.  You can pick up the Oklahoma story from the DC Vaquero, and read up on the Tennessee pick up (which will probably result in some sort of circular firing squad) right here.

It’s worth repeating, these Republican victories occurred in Democrat held seats at a time when Democrats are trying to push through a most thoroughly ambitious, and some might say divisive, agenda.  These are the early shots of the 2010 state elections….and if Democrats don’t get their act together, more Democrat held seats in districts like these will fall into Republican hands.

Million Dollar Ron

Tennessee Republican Lt. Governor Ron Ramsey must’ve broken some kind of Tennessee political fundraising record when he raked in over  $1 million ($1.3 million actually) for his campaign for Governor in basically “12 days”.  That’s pretty eye popping.   Ramsey had announced his campaign months ago, but was legally forbidden from raising any campaign bucks until June 1.  We guess the fast talking auctioneer, that’s  his other job, knows a thing or to about squeezing as many words into a pitch to make every money meeting worthwhile.

Ramsey faces Congressman Zach Wamp, Knoxville Mayor Bill Haslam and Shelby County District Attorney Bill Gibbons in the August 2010 Republican primary.
